Senior Systems Engineer – FAA Enterprise Network Services

Job Description:

Saab Inc. is currently searching for self-motivated and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to conduct requirements and functional analysis, systems integration, and test methodologies, and develop solution architectures and designs for Middleware technologies to support the nation-wide Federal Aviation Administration Enterprise Network Services (FENS) infrastructure transformation program. 
 
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work on leading-edge technologies to build and deliver a dynamic, highly available and secure information management system for the Next Generation Air Transportation System.  As a Senior Systems Engineer on the team, you will have the chance to work with a diverse group of internal and external team members, spanning numerous disciplines and all experience levels.
 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, architecture, planning, support and test automation solutions associated with the JAVA Message Brokering and Web Services environments.

  • Direct interfacing and collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) engineering team on solution design.

  • Participate in high level technical concepts spanning technology and business.

  • Perform analysis of messaging / integration requirements to determine solutions and customizations.

  • Provide the strategy and design to build a suite of integrated test tools supporting product testing and delivery to FAA test facilities for long term integration and test.

  • Configuring ActiveMQ, Solace, Weblogic from an infrastructure perspective, including performance monitoring, integration functions, delivery status and network management

  • Installs, configures, deploys and troubleshoots issues on middleware messaging for applications in a complex, virtual Linux environment.

  • Interacts and consults with development teams on technical projects and issues.

  • Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area.

Compensation Range: $108,000-$137,700

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar

  • 8+ years of technology infrastructure engineering and solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education.

  • Must obtain FAA Position of Trust clearance.

  • Linux experience is a must have.

  • Demonstrated experience in either ActiveMQ, Solace Messaging, and/or Oracle WebLogic Administration

  • Messaging Middleware/Integration – Understanding of the application middleware space.

  • An understanding of SOA and JMS are essential and working knowledge of AMQP, REST, JavaScript, MQTT would all be assets.

  • Application Integration with Java, JavaScript, ESB/API tools and/or C /C++

  • Working experience with Technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, PaaS platforms is highly desirable.

  • Diverse range of technical capabilities, including Microsoft, SQL Server, Oracle, virtualization, monitoring including APM, and Linux

  • Scripting experience including SQL, PowerShell, JSON, and Python

  • Automation and performance monitoring technologies
