Senior Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to support various Saab, Inc. programs and the transfer of other similar technologies from Sweden to the United States.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include but are not limited to:

  • To define and evaluate supplier strategies.

  • To monitor and develop supplier performance in line with established goals and requirements, through direct interaction and Quarterly Business Reviews.

  • To monitor and manage supplier risks.

  • Actively monitor the supplier market and evaluate new potential suppliers and the competitiveness of the existing suppliers.

  • Ensure that evaluation and qualification of suppliers is performed and maintain an Approved Supplier List (ASL) along with Supply Chain.

  • Manage and develop relationships with suppliers in order to secure the commitment to current and future programs.

  • Assessing supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to fulfill program objectives.

  • Identifying supplier risk and performance issues ensuring RCCA identified and implemented with closure plans.

  • Driving continuous product / process improvements.

  • Support to Program Hardware Quality Engineers.

    Compensation Range: $85,000-$106,200

    The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

    Skills and Experience:

    Required Education and Experience:

    • BA/BS degree in an engineering discipline or related discipline, with 5+ years experience. If MA/MS or PhD degree, 3-5 years of experience may be considered.

    • Thorough understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection process.

    • Experience with supplier assessment, requirements flow down, technical data package (TDP) reviews, product acceptance and process evaluations at supplier’s facilities.

    • Experience working issues (root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions), monitoring supplier performance data to identify trends, analyzing opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing supplier improvement actions.

    Required Skills:

    • Working knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD) programs, procedures, and processes.

    • Working knowledge of “Quality System Management”, per ISO 9001:2015.

    • Technical knowledge of Electro/Mechanical products/processes and related special processes

    • Good knowledge about supplier markets, suppliers, products, customer requirements, business intelligence, Saab operations in general and the own Business area/unit operation in detail.

    • Ability to apply an overall perspective, good commercial judgement and to carry out long-term development of strategic business relationships.

    • Knowledge about strategic procurement, purchasing- and project management.

    • Knowledge about quality- and environmental systems and requirements.

    • Ability to use relevant modules of the ERP-system (Oracle) and other support systems.

    • Good understanding of Counterfeit Parts Avoidance

    • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

    • High capacity to acquire, apply and share knowledge.

    • Management ability, aptitude for building networks and very good cooperation and communication skills.

    • Excellent ability to work both independently or as a team, and capacity to drive a working process forward.

    • Excellent communication and presentation experience

    • Excellent Time Management, Multi-tasking, and Organization skills

    Desired Skills & Certifications:

    • ASQ – Certified Quality Engineer

    • Holds IPC-610/620 certifications.

    • Working knowledge of CMMI V3.0 Level 3 requirements a plus.

    • Other related industry certifications

    Citizenship Requirements:

    Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
