Senior Industrial Engineer

Job Description:

As Saab continues to build a new green field operation in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking an Industrial Engineer who is interested in further developing knowledge in manufacturing technology. The Industrial Engineering function will be responsible for evaluation of work measurement and workflow analysis for the establishment of standards and the utilization of production facilities. They will also develop plant and equipment layout, capacity plans, and workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities.

The Industrial Engineer will be an integral link between the Manufacturing Engineering team and the production team in West Lafayette. Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development of production systems and working methods and influence the work instructions to achieve low production costs without compromising function and quality.

  • Contribute to the development of new technical solutions, and to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.

  • Drive improved process planning for current and new products.

  • Standardize assembly practices and cycle times.

  • Model short term and long term production strategy for rate changes and headcount.

  • Develop production flows and lay-outs.

  • Drive continuous improvement for efficient production.

  • Champion the Company values, consistently demonstrating – Trust, Drive, Expertise, and Support.

  • Other project tasks as assigned.

Compensation Range: $85,000 - $106,200

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline is required.

  • 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerostructures.

  • Driven, innovative and takes initiative without being asked.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate across functional areas within an operation.

  • Able to work extended or flexible schedule to support the business.

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

  • Must be able to travel internationally.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
